A MTV anunciou neste domingo (30), em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, os vencedores dos Video Music Awards 2020 (VMA). Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, BTS e The Weeknd foram os grandes destaques da noite que marcou a primeira grande premiação em meio a pandemia de coronavírus.
Indicada em nove categorias, Gaga levou nada menos que que cinco estatuetas para casa: Artista do Ano e Música do Ano, Melhor Colaboração, Melhor Fotografia com “Rain On Me” com Ariana Grande, além de ser a primeira artista a receber um TRICON AWARD, que a reconheceu como ícone nas áreas da música, cinema e filantropia.
Em todas as suas participações na premiação, ela apareceu com uma máscara diferente e sempre customizada bem no estilo único da estrela. No total, foram sete acessórios diferentes em que ela explicou o motivo de aparecer apenas mascarada: “É um sinal de respeito”.
“Quero dividir esse prêmio com todos que estão em casa essa noite. Eu espero que vocês saibam que vocês também podem fazer isso. Estamos separados agora e a cultura pode parecer menos viva de alguma forma, mas sei que o renascimento está chegando, e sei que a cultura pop vai inspirar todos vocês. A força da arte vai empoderar todos vocês”, declarou a cantora após ter seu nome anunciado por Bella Hadidi.
O prêmio de Clipe do Ano ficou com o canadense The Weeknd, que também levou Melhor R&B. Já a banda de k-pop BTS levou quatro prêmios. O grupo também se apresentou no evento.
A premiação marcou uma nova era com a inclusão da categoria Clipe Caseiro. O troféu ficou para Ariana Grande e Justin Bieber com “Stuck with U”.
